Quartzite is a natural stone that begins as sandstone, which under a natural process of heat and pressure is fused with sparkly quartz crystals to form quartzite. Quartzite is an eight on the Mohs Scale of Hardness (one being the softest and 10 the hardest). Quartzite is mostly a hard stone. A sealer is suggested for all quartzite surface areas.
Quartzite can have two different looks—one bolder and dark and the other light and creamy. The color of the quartzite can sometimes vary depending on where it was quarried or the minerals that were present when it formed. This stone typically comes in white, light grey shades, but the stone's minerals can pick up shades of pink, gold, and reddish-brown hues.
Quartzite slab colors are beautiful and unique. Each piece can bring a different look to the area that you are using it. Some of the trending color palettes for quartzite are:
Calcutta Quartzite: This can resemble the Italian marbles in appearance but are much more durable. This color is soft white with grayish or gold-hued beige veins that run throughout the stone.
Taj Mahal Quartzite: This stone has a white to cream color base with grey and subtle gold veins that run through the stone. Although this is subtle in nature, it can be the focal point in any kitchen.
White Pearl Quartzite: The white pearl has a creamy background with grey and taupe veining throughout. Some have linear veining, while others have sweeping veins coloring the stone.
White Macauba Quartzite: This white backgrounded stone has deep grey veins. This stone tends to resemble marble and is used in many kitchens areas.
Blue Macauba Quartzite: This quartzite is a statement no matter where you use it. With shades of white, beige, and blue tones that make up the veins, it stands out in any area.
Winter Storm Quartzite: Just as the name suggests, this stone has a white, grey base with floating lines of darker grey throughout the stone.
Quartzite is one of the most beautiful materials you can use in your kitchen. This stone offers the benefit of durability with an element of style. Quartzite as a choice for your home will never disappoint. In terms of maintenance, it is pretty easy to clean. All you need is warm water and a mild dish detergent.
